The Heat Museum

Poster Design

The Heat Museum is a theatre work that explores the experience of emotional trauma. Set during a devastating heatwave in an unspecified urban townscape, the piece follows an unnamed speaker coming to terms with the end of a long term relationship. The long days of searing heat work in tandem with the narrative, acting as a physical representation of the toll emotional trauma can exert on daily life and the body, while the rain that inevitably follows embodies that almost transcendental optimism and empowerment felt when noticing the first signs of acceptance and recovery after a prolonged period of grief. This is a piece is about how we navigate trauma and regain hope in the darkest moments of our lives, but it is also a love story, just one that explores the fallout, rather than the fall-in. The Heat Museum was part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022.
